SCilS Network meeting in Barcelona

2-4 June 2022 - Barcelona, Spain

For our second in-person meeting, we got to spend time in beautiful Barcelona.

The meeting was hosted by Javier Terriente and Vincenzo Di Donato from ZeClinics, where one of our PhDs, Katka, work on her project.

On Thursday, we shared our progress of projects and have some heated discussions. It was very nice to see that all projects are moving forward and a lot of exciting data are being produced. Friday and Saturday was devoted for our Complementary Skills Course focused on Intellectual property, exploitation and entrepreneurship. We visited labs and facilities of ZeClinics, learnt about having a entrepreneur’s mindset from successful business founders: Javier Terriente, Lyle Armstrong, Gordana Apic and Nico Katsanis. We also learnt about patent applications from Jana Iscla Bosch - Innovation Strategy Manager at IIB Sant Pau and heard inspiring story by Avencia Sanchez-Mejias - Co-founder & CEO at Integra Therapeutics.

But of course, we were not only sitting in the conference room, we had a many wonderful meals full of networking and time for exploring Barcelona!
