SCilS Final Conference

November 8 and 9, 2023 Nijmegen, NL

As our SCilS program has come to an end, we all gathered for our Final Conference. The conference took place in beautiful Nijmegen, where two of our fellows and laboratories are located and where most of us went for their secondments.

After a warm welcome from our head organizer Ronald Roepman, our fellows presented their final results obtained during their PhD programs, shared their personal experience from our program and their future plans. It was amazing to see how far each of us got during the last three years and I have to admit (and believe I am not writing only for myself) that more than a few tears were shed.
At the first day of the conference, we also had a pleasure to listen to inspiring presentations from Olivier de Jong from Utrecht University and Lex Dingemans from Radboudumc.

And as with every scientific conference, the evenings were dedicated to socializing. As we found out our PIs are not only excellent at bowling but also very competitive :) .

For all our fellows, I believe I can say that we are all extremely grateful to have been on this PhD journey together in the SCilS program, learning from and getting to know the top scientists in our field (our PIs) <3
